Privacy Policy
The BZSt takes the protection of personal data very seriously.
On this page you will find all necessary information on data protection.
Privacy Statement
The BZSt takes the protection of personal data very seriously. We want you to know when we collect which data and how we use it. Every time a user accesses our website and every time a file is retrieved, data about this process is temporarily stored and processed in a log file.
In detail, the following data is stored for each access/retrieval:
- Date and time of retrieval (time stamp)
- Request details and destination address (protocol version, HTTP method, referer, user agent string)
- Name of the retrieved file and amount of data transferred (requested URL incl. query string, size in bytes)
- Message whether the retrieval was successful (HTTP status code)
The IP address of the user is not stored in this context. The log files are kept for 30 days. This data is only evaluated for statistical purposes and to improve the offer. The data will be deleted at the end of the above-mentioned storage period.
Cookies are used in some sections of our website. Most browsers are set so that they automatically accept cookies. However, you can deactivate the storage of cookies or set your browser so that it notifies you as soon as cookies are sent.
There is no other use or transfer of personal data to third parties for commercial or non-commercial purposes.
Information letter on data protection
Due to our duty to provide information in accordance with Art. 12, Art. 13 and Art. 14 of the Basic Data Protection Regulation, we provide you here with the general information letter of the federal and state tax authorities (in German and English). In addition, we have compiled information on data processing and your rights for each procedure at the Federal Central Tax Office (in German):
Communication via e-mail/contact form
If you request your identification number, our newsletter, brochures or similar from us, we will ask for your name and other personal information. You are free to choose whether or not to provide this personal information. Otherwise we must expressly refer you to another form of communication, e.g. by conventional mail. Postal addresses and e-mail addresses that you provide to us in your enquiries or orders will only be used for correspondence or dispatch.
Communication via e-mail can have security gaps. For example, e-mails sent to employees of the BZSt may be intercepted and viewed by experienced Internet users.
Protection of minors
Children and young people under the age of 18 should not transmit any personal data to us without the consent of their parents or legal guardians. We do not request personal data from children and young people, do not collect them and do not pass them on to third parties.
Web analysis service MATOMO
1. Scope of processing of personal data
Our website uses Matomo (formerly Piwik), an open source software for statistical evaluation of visitor access. Matomo uses cookies which are stored on your computer and which enable an anonymous analysis of your use of the website. A conclusion on a certain person is not possible, because your IP address is anonymized immediately after the processing and before the storage. The software runs exclusively on the servers of our website. A storage of the personal data of the users takes place only there. The data will not be passed on to third parties.
2 Legal basis for the processing of personal data
The legal basis for the processing of personal data using cookies is Art. 6 para. 1 lit. f DSGVO.
3. Purpose of data processing
Matomo is used for the purpose of improving the quality of our website and its content. This will tell us how the website is used and enable us to continually optimise our services.
4. Duration of the storage, objection and removal possibility
You can object to the storage and evaluation of this data by Matomo at any time. In this case, a so-called opt-out cookie is permanently stored in your browser, which causes Matomo not to collect any data for storage and evaluation. However, if you delete this cookie intentionally or unintentionally, the objection to the data storage and evaluation will also be cancelled and can be renewed via the following link.
Alternatively, most modern browsers have a so-called "Do Not Track" option that tells websites not to track your user activity. Matomo respects this option.
"Recommend page" function
With the "Recommend page" function, you can recommend the websites of the Federal Central Tax Office to other interested parties via e-mail, Twitter or Facebook.
You send the recommendation in your name and, for example, via your e-mail address. Data will not be processed by the Federal Central Tax Office.
Data protection officer
Pursuant to Art. 39 of the Basic Data Protection Ordinance (DSGVO), the data protection officer works towards compliance with the data protection legal framework (in particular DSGVO, Tax Ordinance and Federal Data Protection Act). In particular, the proper use of data processing programs for the processing of personal data is monitored.
The data protection officer of the Federal Central Tax Office will be happy to answer any questions you may have regarding data protection issues:
